We are pleased to be hosting the second annual meeting of the Continuous BioFlow Network, hosted at Keele University on Friday 23rd January 2026. The meeting will take place in the historic Keele Hall stately home at Keele University, providing a grand setting for the second in person meeting of the network. The network aims to connect researchers in flow chemistry, synthetic chemistry, biocatalysis and biomanufacturing to discuss advancements in flow biocatalysis and biomanufacturing. Our second edition has three internationally recognised plenary speakers alongside our full schedule, which is here:
0900-0930: Registration
0930-0940: Welcome
0940-1030: Prof Francesca Paradisi, University of Bern
Enabling tools in applied biocatalysis: enzyme immobilisation, retro(bio) synthetic approach, and flow chemistry
1030-1050: Apisit Naramittanakul, Keele University
Development of continuous-flow synthesis of nucleotide triphosphate analogues
1050-1110: Lisa Kennedy, University of Edinburgh
Biocatalysis Under Pressure; Development of a transaminase/lipase cascade using a combined immobilised enzyme/by-product removal strategy
1110-1145: Coffee
1145-1205: Christopher Field, University of Manchester
In silico pre-selection for effective protein characterisation and selection
1205-1255: Prof Dominic Campopiano, University of Edinburgh
Biocatalyst-driven sustainable synthesis
1255-1400: Lunch
1400-1420: Dr Walid Omara, Sheffield Hallam University
Biosurfactant Biosynthesis Using Yeast: Advancing Sustainable Continuous Bioprocessing
1420-1440: Alisa Wikaputri, University of Nottingham
Batch to Continuous: Process Intensification of Solvent-free Enzymatic Rose Oil Transesterification Using Coiled Flow Inverter (CFI) Microreactors
1440-1500: Dr Matt Takle, University of Leeds
Autonomous optimisation of biocatalytic reactions: enzymatic synthesis of N-benzyl acetoacetamide in continuous flow
1500-1540: Coffee
1540-1630: Prof André Charette, Université de Montréal
Continuous Flow Synthesis as a Platform for Fundamental Discovery and Applied Innovation
There is also the opportunity for researchers at all levels to deliver oral and poster presentations at the meeting. Abstract submission is now open, with deadlines for all on abstracts on Monday 5th January 2026. We would be particularly interested in hearing from any collaborations which arose due to the network meeting launch in January 2025. Attendance at the meeting is completely free thanks to support from our sponsors and generous funding from The UK Catalysis Hub, BBNet and The Royal Society of ÉîÒ¹¸£Àû¹ú²ú¾«Æ·, but places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We are also extremely grateful to our sponsors Asynt and Vapourtec who will sponsor presentation prizes and a drinks reception on the day.
Keele is conveniently located near Stoke-on-Trent and has a hotel on campus. Please contact the organising committee if you have any questions.
