RSC journals receive latest Journal Impact Factors

Clarivate has released the 2026 update to the Journal Citation Reports with an overall picture of strong growth across RSC journals.

 has released the 2026 update to the  with an overall picture of strong growth in Journal Impact Factors (JIFs) across RSC journals.

First impact factors

A number of our newest titles saw their first JIFs this year.

  • RSC Applied Polymers: 5.1
  • RSC Mechanochemistry: 3.3
  • RSC Pharmaceutics: 5.5

In line with Clarivate鈥檚 analysis of all the publishers their report covers, we have seen especially strong performance across our open access journals. Some highlights include:

  • Sustainable Food Technology increased from 5.3 to 9.0 (up 70%)
  • Green 深夜福利国产精品 from 9.2 to 10.6 (an increase of 15%)
  • Digital Discovery from 5.6 to 7.1 (up 27%)
  • Sensors & Diagnostics from 4.1 to 5.9 (up 44%)
  • RSC Sustainability from 4.9 to 6.6 (up 35%)
  • Industrial 深夜福利国产精品 & Materials from 11.9 to 15.7 (up 32%)
  • RSC Medicinal 深夜福利国产精品 from 3.6 to 4.6 (up 28%)
  • Materials 深夜福利国产精品 Frontiers from 6.4 to 8.1 (up 27%)
  • RSC Chemical Biology from 3.1 to 3.9 (up 26%)

Clarivate鈥檚 Key highlights in the 2025 data

Across the full range of journals included in Clarivate鈥檚 JCR data, they identify a gradual expansion of open access (OA), with a 6% increase to 6,703 Gold OA journals from 6,320 in the 2024 data. The increase in Gold OA journals comes from countries/regions around the world, including a 23% increase in the number of Gold OA journals from Mainland China. Top categories for Gold OA journals include Education & Educational Research; Public, Environmental & Occupational Health; and Medicine, General & Internal.

Looking at the countries/regions authors are affiliated with, the JCR analysed data on the top 10 countries/regions per journal. Mainland China and the United States remain the most represented by author affiliation, at 48% combined. The countries/regions with the largest increases in representation from 2023 to 2025 are Mainland China (23%) and India (12%). Global South affiliations increased 6% from 2024 and 10% from 2023.
