Biography
Vera R. Leopoldo Constantino is a Professor at the ÉîÒ¹¸£Àû¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Institute of the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil. She received her Bachelor's degree in ÉîÒ¹¸£Àû¹ú²ú¾«Æ· and Ph.D. in Inorganic ÉîÒ¹¸£Àû¹ú²ú¾«Æ· from the State University of Sao Paulo (UNESP), Brazil. Her Ph.D. work involved the synthesis and characterization of niobium coordination compounds.
She conducted her postdoctoral research with Professor Thomas J. Pinnavaia at Michigan State University (USA) studying layered materials (1992–1994). She was an Academic Visitor at the School of ÉîÒ¹¸£Àû¹ú²ú¾«Æ·, University of Bristol (UK), hosted in the laboratory of Professor Stephen Mann (2015-2016).
Vera has held a research productivity fellowship from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development, an agency of the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology, since 1995.
She was director of the Materials ÉîÒ¹¸£Àû¹ú²ú¾«Æ· division of the Brazilian Chemical Society (2006-2008). Her research interests include synthesis of inorganic materials, intercalation chemistry, exfoliation process, organic-inorganic hybrids and nanocomposites and drug delivery systems.
