Professor Andrew Whiting will present an evening lecture on a new business centred around gin. Gin is enjoying a major resurgence in interest, and like the micro brewing industry, a number of new producers are bringing a new approach to developing imaginative products. This talk documents the background and development of a novel business venture into taking a new look at a very old drink!
Andrew Whiting studied for his undergraduate degree and PhD in ÉîÒ¹¸£Àû¹ú²ú¾«Æ· at Newcastle University, before working in the chemical industry and finally becoming an independent academic at UMIST. He is currently Professor of Organic ÉîÒ¹¸£Àû¹ú²ú¾«Æ· at Durham University, with research interests in the development of new chemical methods and applications in both general and natural product synthesis.
